Angela joined Levy & McRae in 1995 after spending time running a successful business. She studied law at the University of Glasgow and regularly appears in both the civil and criminal courts throughout Scotland. Her principal areas of expertise include media law and personal injury.
Her media work includes pre-publication advice and post-publication litigation in print, broadcast and electronic form, involving defamation, contempt of court and intellectual property issues. She has worked on articles and cases that have had a direct effect on the approach to contempt of court and to orders restricting the reporting of cases in the media.
In 1999, Angela was involved in the acquittal of Shirley McKie, a Strathclyde Police officer charged with perjury, whose case resulted in an overhaul of the Scottish fingerprint system. She also secured settlement of two professional clients' personal injury claims totalling one million pounds.
Angela recently secured settlement of a multi-million pound civil claim on behalf of the widows, families and survivors of a Libyan Air Crash. The case involved complex multi- jurisdictional legal issues and resulted in litigation and settlement taking place in Switzerland.
More recently, both Angela and Peter Watson were heavily involved in preparing for the Glasgow Air Crash Fatal Accident Inquiry. Levy & McRae were instructed by a number of the families of the deceased.
Angela was also an integral part of the team working on the Lockerbie air crash litigation and the Dunblane Inquiry.
