Carolyn has been accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in family law since 1995. She specialises in advising clients in relation to divorce, separation, adoption, orders for personal protection, contact and residence disputes and related children's issues.
As a practitioner with over 28 years experience in the law, Carolyn regularly prepared court reports in relation to contact/residence disputes. She has extensive experience of litigating family matters but recognises the importance of trying to resolve the sensitive issues involved in family disputes by negotiation rather than through the court forum.
Carolyn is a current member and former chair of The Family Law Association and served the Association as a committee member for 10 years.
Carolyn is trained as a Collaborative law solicitor and is a member of the Scottish Collaborative Family Law Group. Collaborative Law represents an important additional way of dealing with family disputes in a less confrontational way. It allows parties and their solicitors to work together to deliver family- focused solutions in divorce and separation
This firm is unique in that it acts only for privately
funded individuals in the criminal arena. Highlight
matters include acting on the longest court martial in
Britain: the team secured the acquittal of an RAF ATC
charged with causing the death of two American pilots.
The team also acts for a number of Scottish Police Federations
and the Prison Officers Association Scotland. The
team also acts for a number of Scotland’s police forces to
deal with on-duty criminal allegations for officers. For
example, it acted on behalf of Shirley McKie in the landmark
fingerprint case, which changed the way fingerprint
evidence is used in courts throughout the world.![]()
